About Clark & Soma Controls
Your building deserves someone who actually listens.
We started with a simple question.
Why do the buildings that most people work in, shop in, and stay in get the worst controls support? National contractors chase hospitals and universities. Everyone else gets ignored — or gets a service call that costs a fortune and does not fix the real problem.
Clark & Soma Controls was founded to be the controls partner that retail centers, restaurants, and light-commercial buildings actually deserve. Strip centers, shopping centers, hospitality, small industrial — the buildings that make up most of real estate but get the least controls support. We show up, we listen to what is going wrong, and we fix it. No upsells, no jargon, no six-month wait for a callback.
The buildings that make up most of real estate get the least controls support. We exist to change that.
We bring the same documentation discipline to every commercial building we touch — wiring diagrams, point lists, sequences of operation, and control narratives. When the job is done, you own the system. Not a service contract. Open protocols, complete records, and the right to work with any qualified technician going forward.
How we work.
Every engagement starts with understanding your building and your priorities. We walk the property, ask questions, and figure out what is actually going on before we recommend anything.
We explain everything in plain English. No jargon, no acronym soup. When we hand you a report, you will know exactly what we found, what it means, and what to do about it.
If a small schedule fix solves your problem, we will say so. We would rather earn your trust on a small job than oversell you on something you do not need.
At project close you walk away with full documentation and credentials in your name — no annual fee to read your own data, no contract that locks you into us.
A small team, on purpose.
Clark & Soma Controls is a small, focused team of controls engineers serving Central Indiana. We chose to stay small on purpose — it is the only way to guarantee that the person who assessed your building is the same person who programs it, monitors it, and picks up the phone when something goes wrong.
What We Do
Controls Integration
That Actually Works
We work across the major building automation platforms — current and legacy. If your building has an existing controls system, we can work with it.
Owner-Direct Dashboards
Custom front-ends that show your building data in plain English — floor plans, equipment status, comfort zones, and trends. Built for property managers, not engineers.
Controller Programming
We program the controllers that tell your HVAC equipment what to do — schedules, setpoints, sequences of operation, and economizer logic. The layer that decides when your equipment runs and how it responds to changes in occupancy or weather.
Remote Access & Monitoring
See your building from any device. We configure secure remote access so you can check temperatures, review alarm status, and adjust schedules without a truck roll.
Trending & Analytics
Continuous data collection on temperatures, runtimes, energy use, and equipment cycles. We deliver monthly reports that show runtime waste, energy spend by zone, and the equipment issues to address next.
Alarm Management
Properly configured alarms that tell you what matters — not 500 nuisance alerts. We set thresholds, routing, and escalation so the right person knows about the right problem at the right time.
Legacy System Integration
Older controllers still working? We can integrate them with a modern front-end or bridge them to newer equipment — without requiring a full rip-and-replace.
We work with what you have. Whatever platform is in your building — old or new — we can program it, monitor it, and make it work the way you need it to. No vendor lock-in.
